Starlink finally agrees to block Twitter in Brazil, at the request of authorities

After an initial refusal, Elon Musk’s satellite internet access service has decided to comply with the Brazilian court order.

A U-turn from Starlink. The satellite internet access service of SpaceX, a company founded by Elon Musk, has finally decided to block X (formerly Twitter) in Brazil, as it announced on the social network.

Since the platform was suspended in the country by Supreme Court Judge Alexandre de Moraes on Friday, August 30, only Starlink customers had access to it, in addition to people using a VPN. Initially refusing to block X, the satellite internet provider reversed its decision on Tuesday, September 3, one day after the Supreme Court upheld the social network’s suspension in the country.

“Illegal treatment”

Starlink is now complying with the Brazilian court order, but it is still at war with Alexandre de Moraes. In addition to requesting the blocking of X, the Supreme Court judge also froze the service’s assets and prevented it from carrying out financial transactions in Brazil.

In its message, the satellite internet service provider denounces “illegal treatment”, indicating that it has initiated “legal proceedings before the Brazilian Supreme Court” so that its assets are no longer frozen.

For the moment, Elon Musk has not personally commented on Starlink’s U-turn. The owner of X, however, continues to attack Alexandre de Moraes on his social network. He thus republished an article claiming that the judge would be dismissed, with a simple comment: “Great.”
