Readers from all over Switzerland have sent spectacular pictures of the sky to “Blick” and “20 Minuten”. An unknown light object can be seen in the sky. Many suspect that a meteor is behind the phenomenon. Burning up space debris could also have caused the impressive event. However, everything still remains speculation.
A reader reporter from Staufen AG writes to the “Blick” newspaper: “We were sitting comfortably on the terrace when we suddenly spotted these fireballs in the sky. It was fascinating!”
“I have never seen anything so beautiful,” writes a news scout from “20 Minutes” in Allschwil. Reports of the event are also coming from the cantons of Basel, Bern, Zurich, Aargau, Glarus and St. Gallen, reports the news portal.
The president of the Astronomical Society of Zurich Unterland, Fabian Mathis, told “Blick”: “Due to the relatively slow speed and the type of defragmentation, I would assume that it was falling space debris or something similar.” The expert does not believe it was a classic meteor.
