DFB Cup: Münster – Stuttgart LIVE on free TV, stream, ticker

VfB Stuttgart is facing its next challenge. After defeats in the Supercup and the Bundesliga, a win in the DFB Cup against Münster is needed – despite personnel problems.

English week for VfB Stuttgart and SC Preußen Münster: The first round of the DFB Cup is on Tuesday. Because VfB had to play Bayer Leverkusen in the Supercup at the start of the season, the duel in the cup is only now taking place.

Stuttgart goes into the match as the clear favorite (from 8.45 p.m. in the LIVETICKER). However, the runner-up has to play away against the second division team – and has not yet had a successful experience in the young season.

VfB coach Sebastian Hoeneß has changed his starting eleven compared to the 1:3 defeat at SC Freiburg on Saturday. For example, national striker Deniz Undav will initially only sit on the bench. Nick Woltemade will be preferred in attack. In defence, Hoeneß is relying on the 20-year-old Anrie Chase, who is making his debut in the starting eleven with the pros.

Münster vs. VfB Stuttgart: The lineups

  • Münster: Behrens – Schad, Paetow, Frenkert, Kirkeskov – Hendrix, Bazzoli, Makridis, Lorenz – Grodowski, Németh
  • Stuttgart: Nübel – Stenzel, Chase, Chabot, Mittelstädt – Karazor, Stiller, Rieder, Führich, Woltemade – Demirovic

Stuttgart and Münster are still waiting for victory

The Supercup against Leverkusen was lost in dramatic fashion and the Swabians did not get off to a good start in the league either. Coach Sebastian Hoeneß’s team was beaten 1:3 by SC Freiburg.

The numerous injuries are probably even more serious than the two defeats at the start. Seven players are out: Dan-Axel Zagadou, Anthony Rouault, Leonidas Stergiou, Josha Vagnoman, Nikolas Nartey, Luca Raimund and Luca Pfeiffer. The situation is particularly tense in defence.

An early exit from the DFB Cup would therefore mean a completely unsuccessful start to the season for VfB – and would represent a small sensation for Münster.

The second division newcomer has not been able to shine in the current season either. So far in the league they have suffered two defeats and one draw. However, unlike Hoeneß, Sascha Hildmann can largely draw on a full squad.

After Stuttgart on Tuesday, Leverkusen, as Supercup winners, will then play its first round duel with FC Carl Zeiss Jena on Wednesday (6 p.m.). SPORTS1 shows all highlights from both games on Thursday at 8.15 p.m. on free TV.
