Galatasaray-YB: The live ticker for the second leg of the playoff

YB plays bravely

The Young Boys are one game away from the league phase of the Champions League. After the 3:2 win in the first leg, a draw against Galatasaray Istanbul is enough for the Bernese to qualify for the premier class. We will report live.

Young Boys

23. Minute

8 to 4 shots for the Young Boys, 4:0 shots on goal for the Bernese – these are the shot statistics after 23 minutes.

22. Minute

Blum remains down briefly after a duel with Sara – but can continue playing without medical attention.

18. Minute

Then the Bernese attack again. Colley goes in for the shot. Muslera parries to Ganvoula, who again takes the shot from a tight angle. A back pass to Ugrinic would probably have been more appropriate.

18. Minute

It’s like a pinball machine in the YB penalty area – but the ball doesn’t find its way to the goal.

15. Minute

Galatasaray advances into the YB box. A corner is awarded. YB defends – and counters strongly via Colley, who then passes to Ganvoula. Itten waits in the middle for the pass from his strike partner, but Ganvoula tries it himself. A Turkish defender who rushes back is able to block the shot.

13. Minute

Colley simply shoots. Muslera doesn’t make a good save. Corner number 3 for YB – and the Turks clear it for corner number 4. It doesn’t become dangerous.

11. Minute

Blum looks for Monteiro in the box, but he doesn’t get the ball under control as he would have liked. At least a second YB corner appears. And with this one, Blum actually finds a taker in the middle. But the shot is too poorly placed and no problem for Muslera.

8. Minute

Colley is fouled. Free kick for YB from around 25 meters, pretty centrally in front of the goal. Ugrinic tries it directly, but not well placed. No problem for Muslera, who, unlike von Ballmoos, is back in goal for Galatasaray today. In the first leg, both goalies had to be substituted early due to injuries.

7. Minute

With the exception of the first ten seconds, the initial phase in Istanbul belongs to the Bernese.

5. Minute

A strong advance from Bern on the right, Ganvoula is able to get going – but his shot just misses. The ball rolls past the left post before an offside whistle sounds. A possible goal would therefore probably not have counted.

4. Minute

When the Young Boys have the ball, it is incredibly loud in the stadium. Then 50,000 Turkish fans boo the Bernese mercilessly. We know this from the Turkish national team’s games at the European Championships in Germany.

3. Minute

YB gets its first corner. Ugrinic kicks it to the far post, where Camara fails to head the ball towards the goal as he intended.

2. Minute

Colley comes from the left, brings the ball to the middle, where Hadjam has a good position to shoot, but his shot gets stuck in the Turkish defense.

1. Minute

After just a few seconds, Icardi falls in the Berne penalty area. Zoukrou pushes the Galatasaray striker to the limit. The referee allows play to continue.

Game start

The ball rolls. Galatasaray has the kick-off.

Before the game, the stadium will be very quiet, or at least almost so – in memory of the late former England national coach Sven-Göran Eriksson.

The two teams enter the pitch. And it is deafeningly loud in the Ali Sami Yen, which is sold out with over 50,000 spectators. The Champions League anthem sounds – everything is ready.

The game will be refereed by Norwegian referee Espen Eskas.

YB writes via X: “David von Ballmoos tried everything to play, but had to acknowledge that despite painkillers, he was a bit limited in certain movements.”

Otherwise, YB coach Patrick Rahmen makes no changes compared to the first leg.
