Professional gymnast (23) dead after accident near Neuschwanstein – because of fatal selfie?

Did she go too far because of a snapshot? Last week, a woman fell about 70 meters down on the Tegelberg in Bavaria. She is said to be the Czech professional gymnast Natálie Štíchová.

The 23-year-old gymnast wanted to take a photo against the backdrop of the famous Neuschwanstein Castle, as a friend now reveals. Natálie Štíchová repeatedly posted photos of dangerous abysses. She often posed on the edge of cliffs, especially when hiking in the Alps.

“We will not find out if she slipped or if a piece of the rock edge broke off,” says the source on the site Blesk.cz .

Friends had to witness the tragedy

Štíchová was travelling with two friends and her partner – he and the two friends had to witness the tragedy, according to the “Bild“ The accident happened during a hike near Schwangau in the Allgäu.

Initially, the 23-year-old is said to have survived – but she suffered serious injuries. She was immediately flown to a hospital by helicopter – a few days later she died as a result of her injuries. Life support was turned off due to irreversible brain damage.

“There is no one who did not love her”

In the Czech Republic, Štíchová was a well-known sports star and trained young gymnasts. Štíchová had won numerous medals in competitions.

“She smiled throughout her short life and that is how we will always remember her,” the Czech Gymnastics Federation said. “There is no one who did not love her. Our Natálie was the sweetest person,” her mother wrote on Instagram.

On social media, fans are saying goodbye to Štíchová and expressing their condolences to the family. “Rest in peace, Natalie” and “I wish the family a lot of strength in this difficult time,” users write in the comments. “I like to think back to our meeting a few days ago in the hotel, it was very nice,” says another comment.
