Diogo Costa talks about a “fair victory for Sporting” but adds: “There’s a lot of championship ahead” – FC Porto

Diogo Costa highlighted FC Porto’s good start to the Alvalade classic, assuming, however, that Sporting is a fair winner (2-0) for what he did during the match.

“In the first 15/20 minutes we started well, showing our strength to Sporting. I think they felt our strength. Then, as time went by, we lacked the timing to press and know how to press or collect. We also didn’t really take charge of our game. Sporting were very prepared for our depth, always protecting themselves a lot. It was smart of them. It was up to us to try to switch the game and we weren’t able to. Now we just have to keep working, because there’s a lot of championship ahead of us,” began the Portuguese international goalkeeper, speaking on Sport TV’s ‘flash’.

And he continued: “Yes, [a vitória do Sporting] It is fair given the passage of time, because as time went by they were better. They scored two goals, they won, so the result shows in itself that it was fair. We have to react. Today we are making our trip thinking about the next game, even with the national teams going. But we, the players, have to be on alert now, on constant alert, earlier, so that it will be easier later.”

“We started the season well, but that is in the past. That’s why we have to look to the present and the future and not think about what has been won but what we have to win,” he concluded.
