One Direction singer Liam Payne is dead

Liam Payne, a former member of the successful boy band One Direction and now a solo artist, died on Wednesday after falling from the third floor of a hotel in Buenos Aires, according to Clarin magazine. He was 31 years old.

According to French media BFMTV and CNN, the police have also confirmed the incident. The American celebrity portal reports that the incident occurred around 5 p.m. local time. The background is still unclear.

Former member of the successful band One Direction, Liam Payne, is dead. The British singer, guitarist and composer died on Wednesday at the age of 31 after falling from the third floor of a hotel in Buenos Aires, the police in the Argentine capital said. Payne “suffered very serious injuries” in the fall, said the head of the city’s emergency services, Alberto Crescenti, on local television. There was “no possibility of revival”.

According to Crescenti, rescue workers rushed to the hotel in the Palermo district after receiving an emergency call at 5:04 p.m. local time. They arrived seven minutes after the call and “discovered the death of the man, who we later learned was a singer.”

The boy band One Direction, whose members also included singer Harry Styles, were cast for a television show and were enormously successful around the world. In 2016, One Direction announced that they were taking a break. Payne announced that he was working on a solo album that same year.

According to Billboard magazine, Payne attended a concert by his former bandmate Niall Horan in Buenos Aires on October 2nd.
