Mick Schumache wants to return to Formula 1. The son of racing legend Michael Schumacher has confirmed this many times. Most recently, the chances of getting a cockpit from 2025 seemed to decrease. Only Sauber would have been an option, but “Bild” reported that the 25-year-old would not get a seat with the future Audi factory team. However, Schumacher’s return to the premier class of motorsport does not seem out of the question.

The new Audi Formula 1 project manager Mattia Binotto told the Italian newspaper “Corriere della Sera” that he could definitely imagine Schumacher as a possible driver for 2025 alongside the German Nico Hülkenberg. It is already certain that Hülkenberg will move to Sauber next year. Audi will then take over the Swiss team completely from 2026 and Hülkenberg will then be the Audi driver.

“I met him”

Binotto confirmed: «Definitely, Schumacher is an option we are considering. I met him and talked to him. I have known him for a long time as he was part of the Ferrari Driver Academy. I know his strengths and weaknesses. He’s one of the names we have in mind.”

Mick Schumacher was in Ferrari’s youth academy, Binotto is a former team boss of the Formula 1 racing team. Now he is looking for the right driver for his last cockpit, explains: “We have the luxury of taking our time, as all the other teams have already decided on their driver line-ups.” He explains: “Two things are crucial for us: on the one hand, experience to support the team on the growth path, and on the other hand, a young, talented driver who can accompany us on our way to the top.”

Both apply to Schumacher. After all, he was already able to race and gain experience at Haas, but he is also young. So he can continue to hope.
