Release canceled! Alfons Schuhbeck loses all prison privileges

Munich/Landsberg – A bitter setback for Alfons Schuhbeck (75): The star chef has lost his prison exemption. The reason for this is new investigations against him.

Since June, the Munich I public prosecutor’s office has been investigating Schuhbeck, who has been in prison since last year for tax evasion amounting to 2.3 million euros, for delaying insolvency and fraud in connection with Corona aid. The Munich I regional court sentenced him to three years and two months in prison.

Already in the summer, a spokeswoman for the public prosecutor’s office said that the new investigations into eleven of the 75-year-old’s companies were coming to an end.

As “Bild” has now learned from Schuhbeck’s lawyer Nicolas Stieger (56), the star chef’s prison privileges have been revoked. “The new investigations are of course putting a lot of strain on him. What’s particularly bad for him is that his prison sentence has been withdrawn as a result,” said Stieger.

According to Stieger, Schuhbeck is physically “top fit”. About his everyday life in prison in the Rothenfeld prison says the lawyer: “Mr. Schuhbeck reads a lot, especially books about herbs. He continues his education.” At 75 years old, he wouldn’t be able to work in prison.

The lawyer told “Bild” he was optimistic that the public prosecutor would not bring charges regarding the Corona fraud investigation.

Should a trial still take place and the star chef be convicted, the inevitable consequence would be that Schuhbeck’s prison sentence would be extended. “That is clear,” said Stieger.
