Norway and Slovenia started the new Nations League season with one win and one draw each, and on the third matchday they faced each other in a direct duel – with a lot of Bundesliga power, especially the Norwegians, who had eight starters with Germany. experience came along.

Oblak can be tunneled

Above all, of course, star striker and captain Haaland, who demonstrated his class after just seven minutes. Leipzig’s Nusa, who impressed from the start with his speed, dribbling and goal-scoring, moved from the second row. Oblak in the Slovenian goal parried his shot, but right in front of Haaland’s feet, who reacted quickly and tunneled the veteran to the early lead.

The Slovenians, who let Norway take control of the game, repeatedly set the tone, but were not compelling in front of the goal. Former Nuremberg player Gnezda Cerin missed the best chance to equalize (29′), before Nusa made it 2-0 after a fine Ryerson pass (32′).

In the second round, the hosts quickly set the course for victory, but initially benefited from a mistake by Drkusic. The defender first played a bad pass and, in a duel with Haaland, who was biting as energetically as ever, unfortunately passed the ball to Sörloth, who didn’t allow himself to be asked twice (52′).

Haaland overtakes Juve

The former Leipzig player, who completed the brilliant strike trio, thanked Haaland a little later by passing the ball across after Nusa’s fine pass from the outside of his foot. The star striker followed up with a fine shot and scored a brace (62′).

With his 34th goal in the national jersey (and only 36th game!), the 24-year-old Haaland became Norway’s record goalscorer. Previously, Jörgen Juve, who died in 1983, had held this record since 1934 with 33 goals.

The game was decided and had no further highlights. With the win, Norway climbed to the top of Group 3 in League B, in which the game in Austria is scheduled for Sunday (8:45 p.m.). Slovenia will face Kazakhstan again away from home on the same day at 3 p.m.
