Norway’s Supreme Court has banned the Norwegian branch of the Dutch motorcycle club Satudarah as a criminal organization.

In the Høyesterett mountain estuary it is said that this is necessary to prevent serious crimes.

The Supreme Court said the members of the club, which is known for violent crimes, extortion, illegal drug trafficking and arms smuggling, had “repeatedly committed serious crimes against the life, health and freedom of people” and that their actions were “suitable for dissemination among the population to stir up fear.”

The court added that while Satudarah describes itself as a motorcycle club and is open to ethnic minorities, members are not required to own a motorcycle or a driver’s license to become members.

“The club does not have the aim of promoting multi-ethnic interests,” it says in the reasons for the judgment.

The Supreme Court also noted that the gang “describes itself as a so-called 1% club – a term usually used for motorcycle clubs that live on the fringes of society’s laws and rules.”

Raids

As the Norwegian television station NRK confesses, Satudarah came to Norway in 2014. Last year, police asked courts to ban Satudarah because of his alleged criminal activities, which are said to include drug offenses and violent clashes with other gangs.

The charges were brought under a 2021 law that allows the government to impose blanket bans on organizations if they can be proven to have criminal involvement.

Satudarah won the case, but the government appealed, which has now led to the Supreme Court ruling.

The club comes from the Netherlands. It was founded there mainly by Moluccan immigrants. His name means “One Blood” in Indonesian-Malay. Dutch authorities eventually banned it, as did Germany in 2015.

In neighboring Denmark, the national association dissolved in May 2023 and became the Comanches MC. In Sweden, the association was dissolved after all its members were arrested on drug and weapons charges.

In Europe, Satudarah MC has local branches in Austria, Bosnia-Hervegovina, Serbia, Belgium, and Spain, among others.
