Alicia Vikander is happy to be back in Zurich

Alicia Vikander (36) visits the 20th Zurich Film Festival to present her new film “The Assessment” as a Swiss premiere and to collect a Golden Eye. The last time Vikander was at the ZFF was in 2017 when she was on the green carpet for the premiere of “Euphoria”. “It was time for me to come back to Zurich,” she explains to 20 Minutes.

The Swedish actress’s schedule is tight – so she didn’t have time to enjoy the city on the Limmat. “But I’m actually always here in Zurich,” she says. «I have friends here and love the city. Unfortunately I don’t have time to do anything else during the film festival. Not this time and not in 2017 either.”

Alicia Vikander is particularly pleased to present her new film: “It’s always nice to be at this prestigious festival and meet so many talented people from the industry.”

“The Assessment” shows a future world devastated by climate change in which society strives for perfection. Couples who want to have children must therefore undergo a state aptitude test. Alicia Vikander plays the lead role, an appraiser who stays with a couple for a week and stirs up their relationship with unpleasant questions.

The science fiction film portrays society’s obsession with optimization. According to Vikander, it shows how people struggle to survive in this new, broken world. “I think it actually has little to do with perfection,” says the actress.
