The ZSC Lions have qualified for the playoffs in the Champions Hockey League. They only won 2-1 after a penalty shootout against the Sheffield Steelers.
The match winner for Zurich was Rudolfs Balcers. He gave ZSC the lead in the 17th minute and scored twice in the penalty shootout. Daniel Leavens equalized for the British in the middle third.
In the last round on October 16th, ZSC will play away against Klagenfurt.
Friborg can also hope for the playoffs. They defeated the Eisbären Berlin 9:3. Jan Dorthe scored three goals. Freiburg laid the foundation for a clear victory in the middle third, which they won 5-2. Friborg’s last opponent in the preliminary round is Straubing on October 15th. (attach)
