Manchester City’s Manuel Akanji has revealed wholesome personal news on his social media channels on Wednesday evening regarding the arrival of his third child.
It is the latest good news to arrive for the Swiss international in an exemplary career in the English game since joining Manchester City from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2022 alongside teammate, Erling Haaland.
Having claimed an illustrious Treble success in his debut season, including a Premier League and UEFA Champions League double, Akanji established himself as one of the most versatile and dependable options in Pep Guardiola’s squad.
Starring across the defence for Manchester City in their route to ultimate footballing glory, the 29-year-old featured at left-back and right-back, as well as his natural central defensive role alongside the likes of Ruben Dias and John Stones.
But the good news keeps on coming for Manuel Akanji and his young family, welcoming their latest addition earlier this month and now confirming the arrival on social media.
Writing in a new post on his official Instagram channel, Manuel Akanji revealed, “We’re overjoyed and incredibly grateful to share the arrival of our beautiful daughter, Khiara Sofia Yemaya Akanji!”
The Swiss international continued, “Our hearts couldn’t be fuller as we welcome our third child, and first little girl, into the world. This moment is one we’ll cherish forever!”
Manuel Akanji has returned to Manchester City training as normal this week, having featured for the Switzerland national team in their first international fixtures since a heartbreaking exit from the European Championships in the summer.
The Swiss side exited the tournament in Germany via a penalty shoot-out against England, with Akanji making the decisive error from the spot to send his nation home early at the quarter-final stage of the competition.
