After Barcelona’s Marc-André ter Stegen and Manchester City’s Rodri, another big name in world football suffered a serious knee injury early in the season. Real Madrid’s Dani Carvajal will be out for a long time with a torn cruciate ligament.

The Spanish full-back confirmed the worst fears on Sunday night, just a few hours after Real’s 2-0 win in LaLiga against Villarreal. “I will have to go under the knife and stay away from the field for a few months,” Carvajal posted on Instagram with a photo showing him in the ambulance.
Carvajal collided with his opponent Yeremy Pino during a duel in stoppage time of the game. The national player was still able to clear the ball. But then he collapsed with loud cries of pain, holding his right knee. His teammates immediately rushed to him to comfort him.
