This spring, Michel Blanc shot one last film, “La cache”. It was under the direction of Lionel Baier from Lausanne. The French actor, who died Thursday following a heart attack, will not see the release, scheduled for 2025.

In a text published on the Bande à part Films Instagram account, Lionel Baier paid tribute to the actor, whose “professionalism was the immediate manifestation of his great elegance”.

“There was not a day of editing when I was not delighted to be able to convey to him on the screen what he entrusted to me in life,” writes the director before confiding that “each In the morning, Michel Blanc would reward him with a mischievous little nod of the head and leave him in the evening, with a smile on his lips, whether the day was good or bad, giving me a decided “see you tomorrow.”

“His professionalism was the immediate manifestation of his great elegance. I was lucky enough to benefit from it. I am infinitely grateful to him. See you tomorrow Michel,” concludes Lionel Baier.

“The Cache” follows a 10-year-old boy, who experiences the events of May 68 hiding at his grandparents’ house, surrounded by his uncles and his great-grandmother, all bivouacking around a mysterious cache. The film is adapted from the novel of the same name by Christophe Boltanski, Prix Femina 2015. Michel Blanc plays the grandfather, alongside Dominique Reymond, William Lebghil, Aurélien Gabrielli and Liliane Rovère.
