As of: October 3rd, 2024 11:17 p.m

In a wild exchange of blows, crisis club Manchester United saved a point from FC Porto in the Europa League on Thursday evening. Lazio set another exclamation mark, Galatasaray experienced disappointment.

Things initially went brilliantly for United in the 3:3 (2:2) draw in Porto. Marcus Rashford (7th minute) took the early lead, which Rasmus Höjlund even extended (20th). But before the change, the former Champions League winner came back into the show through Pepe (27th) and Samu Omorodion (34th).

Omorodion even scored to give Porto the lead five minutes after the restart, and the English seemed defeated after the yellow-red card for Portuguese United playmaker Bruno Fernandes (81′). But in stoppage time, a change by Erik ten Hag paid off: his joker Harry Maguire scored to make it 3-3 for United.

Bitter evening for Rome and the Rangers

AS Roma experienced a nasty surprise: IF Elfsborg from Sweden won 1-0 against the clear favorites thanks to a goal from Michael Baidoo (44th).

Meanwhile, Olympique scored a clear victory. Malick Fofana (10th and 55th) and Alexandre Lacazette (19th and 45th + 1) each scored two goals in the 4:1 (3:1) win at Glasgow Rangers. Tom Lawrence briefly equalized in the 14th minute.

Lazio Rome sets the next exclamation point

In the earlier session, Lazio Rome had once again set an exclamation mark after the clear 3-0 opening win against Dynamo Kiev against OGC . The Laziali won confidently against the team from the French Mediterranean coast 4:1 (2:1). Pedro (20′) and Taty Castellanos (35′) had secured a 2-0 lead in the first half before Jérémie Boga (41′) managed to catch up. After the break, Castellanos (53′) and finally Mattia Zaccagni (67′) made everything clear again.

Tottenham and Anderlecht also with two wins

Tottenham Hotspurs and RSC Anderlecht also already have six points. The Spurs won 2-1 (1-0) at Ferencváros in Budapest. Pape Sarr (23′) and Brennan Johnson (86′) scored for the English before the Hungarians scored through Barnabás Varga shortly before the end.

Anderlecht had a difficult task to solve in San Sebastian and were already 0-1 behind in the 5th minute thanks to Pablo Martin. Before the break, Luis Vasquez (28′) and Théo Leoni (39′) turned the game around to a 2-1 win for the Belgians.

Disappointment at Galatasaray

Meanwhile, Galatasaray suffered a setback. Without the injured star striker Victor Osimhen, Riga FS only managed a 2:2 (2:1). The Turks had already led 2-0 through Dries Mertens (12th) and Yunus Akgün (38th) before Janis Ikaunieks (40th) and Lasha Odisharia (54th) equalized for the Latvians. In the end, Riga even had several chances to completely turn the game around, but keeper Günay Güvenc at least held on to one point.
