Bologna’s 0-0 draw against Shakhtar Donetsk at the start of the Champions League league phase was no real surprise. Although the Italians recorded a significant increase in chances (17:4 completions), this only resulted in an expected goal value of 1.17.

Admittedly, the previous games in the “premier class” were a long time ago: Bologna had previously moved into the CL for the only time in the 1964/65 season.

And yet the offensive weakness is also a current problem. In Serie A they are only in 13th place because of only 7 goals scored. The departure of top scorer Joshua Zirkzee (12 goals this season) to Man United has not yet been adequately compensated for. Apart from the Argentinian Santiago Castro (3 goals this season), no one has scored more than once.

Slot makes Klopp almost forgotten

In Zirkzee’s new home, on the island, they face Liverpool FC on Wednesday. The “Reds” not only got off to a strong start in the Premier League, but also in the Champions League. With the 3-1 win at AC Milan, Jürgen Klopp’s successor Arne Slot immediately set an example – the Dutchman continued the coaching legend’s legacy almost perfectly with 6 wins from 7 games.
