«HateOUT – LoveIN!» – Pride Central Switzerland will take place on Saturday, August 31, 2024. The colorful festival starts at 11 a.m. at the Lucerne Music Pavilion. There will be various speeches between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. and the subsequent night parade through the old town will definitely be a very special highlight. There is also something for the little visitors: there is a children’s program and a church service on Sunday. The subsequent after-party in the Bourbaki will be the crowning conclusion to the day.
A day against injustice
The various Pride events around the world remind us of the struggle of people for recognition, respect, equal opportunities and thus for equal rights. Pride Central Switzerland shows that the diversity of sexual preferences and identities is also represented in our region and is therefore part of society. In the recent past, there have been increasing reports of physical violence against lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, intersex or queer members of society. In particular, the debate that has been sparked about non-binary people in our midst shows that we as a society still find it difficult to grasp and classify human diversity in all its facets.
With this year’s motto “HateOUT – LoveIN”, Pride reminds us that a society should not define itself through hate, violence and fear, but can only achieve true greatness through love, mutual respect and support.
