The Premier League is in full swing on the last day of the transfer market

The transfer market for the major European leagues closed on Thursday and all the paperwork arrived on time. The operations that needed to be closed did so without any major problems. All but one: Osimhen. The Nigerian striker, after a summer of flirting with PSG, Chelsea and Saudi Arabia, remains at Napoli. Or at least for now, because in Saudi Arabia they close on Mondays.

Chelsea did sign Jadon Sancho, in one of the most shocking moves of the market. The big shaker this summer was the United player… at the same time as sending Sterling, who had been removed from the first team, to Arsenal. The first, in the form of a loan with an obligatory purchase option for just over 30 million euros. The second, in the form of a loan without an option to buy. Los gunners They also announced the arrival of Neto (on loan) as backup goalkeeper, because Ramsdale signed for Southampton (21.4M€)discarding Joan García due to the high price of his release clause (30M€). And Nketiah left for Crystal Palace.

The Premier League is the league that moved the most, and that’s where it ruled PSG to Carlos Soler (loan with option to buy to West Ham) and to Ugarte (for 50 million euros to United). Spaniard Bajcetic has gone on loan to Salzburglike Amrabat, wanted by Atleti, to Fenerbahçe or Tammy Abraham to Milan. Napoli built a new midfield with Scots McTominay (€30M) and Gilmour (€14M). Leipzig paid 30 million euros for Geertruida. Jota left Saudi Arabia for Rennes, who paid 8 million euros. And Roma added Koné from Mönchengladbach to their midfield for 18 million euros.

Premier League (Expenses: €2,311M – Income: €1,493M)

The English are once again, with Chelsea at the head and Brighton as the unexpected big shaker, the kings of the market. With more than 2,231 million euros in spending for nearly 300 arrival moves and income close to 1,500 million, the Premier’s balance sheet this summer exceeds -814 million euros in the negative. Although many of the big deals, such as Yoro for United (62M€), João Félix for Chelsea (52€) or Merino for Arsenal (37M€), have taken place throughout the summer, the last day of the market has also been full of moves: Ugarte, ex-PSG, is red devil; Carlos Soler will be under Lopetegui’s orders, Sancho arrives on loan at Stamford Bridge and the final bombshell has been the loan of Sterling, banished by Maresca, to Arteta’s Arsenal.

Series A (Expenses: €1,001M – Income: €691M)

The Calcio teams reached a level of spending of over 1,000 million euros, with the azzurri (who made McTominay and Gilmour official yesterday, adding up to 150 million in signings), Juventus (who spent 162 million) and Roma (who yesterday closed the Saelemaekers-Abraham swap with Milan) among the most active. Cesc’s Como was the big surprise: with its 49 million, it is the ninth team in Serie A for spending and points, with its own names (Varane, Reina, Moreno, Sergi Roberto, Nico Paz…) to an easy escape.

Bundesliga (Expenses: €596M – Income: €490M)

The Bundesliga was the fourth league of the five European leagues that spent the most during this summer transfer window, leaving only La Liga behind (with three hours to go before the deadline in Spain!). German clubs spent a total of 596.48 million euros on transfers and earned 501 million euros. The club spent the most money on new signings, with the club selling 142 million euros, resulting in a loss of around 95 million euros. As expected after their first season without a win since 2012, Bayern Munich was the club that spent the most money on new signings. The Munich side spent 142 million euros (Dortmund spent 80 and Stuttgart 75) on Palhinha, Olise, Ito and the ownership of Bryan Zaragoza, who was loaned to Osasuna. The most expensive deal carried out during the summer was the sale of Dani Olmo to FC Barcelona, valued at 55 million. Olise (53 million), Palhinha (51 million) and Beier (from Hoffenheim to Dortmund for 28.5 million euros) were the most expensive signings, although the move of Guirassy, second top scorer behind Kane last season, to BVB is also noteworthy due to the high expectations. Leverkusen, the champions, spent 53 million, of which 18 million were invested in the now ex-Gerundense Aleix García.

Ligue 1 (Expenses: €702M – Income: €575M)

Ligue 1 has closed the curtain on the transfer market, in a window that has been marked by the crisis in television rights and which has led to a considerable reduction in net spending. In total, French clubs spent 700 million euros, much less than last year (more than a billion euros), while revenues amounted to 575 million.

The balance sheet, between income and expenses, closes with losses of 129 million, very similar to the last financial year. Paris Saint-Germain, as usual, was the team that spent the most money, 170 million, with Joao Neves’s club, for whom the Parisians paid 60 million, being the largest investment in French football during the entire summer market. Among the latest signings, Wilfried Zaha stands out, who arrived at Lyon on loan.
