– Large-scale power outage in the city of Bern
In the city of Bern, several districts were affected by a blackout on Tuesday afternoon. The cause was a technical fault in a substation.

The power outage began shortly after midday and spread across parts of the inner city, Kirchenfeld, Obstberg and Breitenrain districts, as a spokeswoman for Energie Wasser Bern (ewb) said when asked. The cause was a technical fault in the ewb substation Schosshalde. The defect was repaired by 1:10 p.m.
ewb was initially unable to provide any information on the number of households affected. The power outage affected numerous businesses, among others. The Migros branch on Luisenstrasse in Kirchenfeld, for example, had to temporarily close its doors because the cash registers were no longer working.
