Devastated Cari Lapique returns to Malaga after learning of her daughter’s death

Completely devastated, unable to hold back her tears and unable to speak, this is how she arrived Search for Lapique to Malaga airport after receiving the hardest blow of her life: the death of her eldest daughter, Caritina Goyanes, who suffered a cardiac arrest at the age of 46 while finishing her holidays in Marbella with her husband and children. She learned the fatal news in Mallorca, where she was spending a few days at her sister Myriam’s house, and she headed to Andalusia on the first available plane.

Along the corridors of the terminal, on the way to the van that would take them to Marbella, Cari, with her gaze hidden behind sunglasses, walked held at all times by her sister, who was on her left, and her daughter-in-law, Carla Vega-Penichet, who was holding her right arm. Both were equally devastated by the loss of Caritina.

Cari’s nephews, Carlos and Felipe Cortina, who became parents at the same time eleven months ago, were a few steps ahead. The sons of the late Alfonso Cortina, former president of Repsol Carlos Cortina, have sent a wreath to the funeral chapel of their cousin, whom they adored. The Sixsens catering entrepreneur had a very close relationship with all the members of the family and loved spending time together. They have always been a close-knit group and now they will stay together to face the most difficult moment.

When Myriam Lapique became a widow in 2020, her sister was always there for her, encouraging her, suggesting plans and offering her unconditional company. Now it’s the other way around and it’s Cari who has the support of her sister, with whom she disconnected for a few days in Mallorca after suddenly and unexpectedly losing her great love, Carlos Goyanes, who died in his home in Marbella on August 7, shortly before celebrating his 49 years of marriage. They also have two brothers, Pedro and Manuel.

Throughout the afternoon, many friends and family have come to Caritina’s funeral chapel, at whose doors we have seen touching moments such as the embrace between Carla Goyanes, her brother-in-law Antonio Matos and her two nephews, Pedro and MiniCari. Among those attending are José María García with his son Luis, who consider the Goyanes Lapiques of the family; Rosauro Varo; Alfonso de Borbón and his mother, Marisa Yordi; María Zurita and also Inés Domecq.
