  • Angelica Moser finished 4th in the pole vault event at Zurich Central Station.
  • As in 2022 and 2023, the victory in the competition as part of Weltklasse Zürich goes to Olympic champion Nina Kennedy (AUS).
  • Pascale Stöcklin, the second Swiss woman in the field, impresses with 6th place.

In the end, it was a kind of déjà vu for Angelica Moser. As at the Olympic Games in Paris a few weeks ago, the Swiss athlete landed just off the podium at her “home jump” in Zurich. Because the American Katie Moon cleared 4.82 m in her third attempt, Moser had to settle for fourth place.

It’s priceless to have something like this on your doorstep.

The victory went to Olympic champion Nina Kennedy (AUS), who was the only athlete to clear 4.87 m. Alysha Newman (CAN) and Moon followed with 4.82 m. The same three athletes had already stood on the podium in Paris, but places 2 and 3 were in reverse order.

New indoor record for Moser

Nevertheless, Moser was more than satisfied with her performance in front of her home crowd. The 26-year-old European champion cleared 4.77 m in her first attempt, setting a new personal indoor best. Because the competition took place in Zurich’s train station hall, it is classified as an indoor event.

“It’s priceless to have something like this on your doorstep. The atmosphere is incredible every time. That gave me an extra boost today to be able to show such a performance,” said a satisfied Moser.

Only last Friday, the Andelfingen native failed at the Diamond League meeting in Rome – weakened by the aftermath of flu – at a height of 4.53 m, which was modest for her.

Stöcklin also convinces

Pascale Stöcklin, the second Swiss athlete in the field, also put in a great performance. The Basel native mastered the first two heights in her first attempt. The 4.52 m is the second best performance in the 27-year-old’s career.

“It has always been my dream to jump at a Diamond League meeting. The fact that I was able to do that at home and in Zurich’s main station is incredible. And even I say that as a Basel native,” joked Stöcklin after her 6th place.
