The death of his best friend Savić found him this morning in the hospital in Cačan, where he usually works as a doctor, pathologist. For almost seventy years, two people from Čačan confided secrets to each other, talked about children and family, laughed and rarely cried. Both of them with a cheerful spirit, convinced that youth will last forever, have been continuously on the Čačak Ljubljana phone line in recent months. As long as Boren the phone didn’t go silent.
“I’m not well this morning and I’m not having a good day.” No matter how much I knew what the final outcome of his condition would be, somehow I secretly hoped that he would pull through, I believed – says the doctor from Čačan, who was the best knowledgeable about Bora’s illness, with which he fought like a lion, almost through tears.
– Knowing how immense his attachment to Čačak is, that’s why we offered him to come to his hometown. Bora loved Čačak, it seems to me, more than himself. He did not get to spend his last days near Morava. Even his current wife Dubravka, who is a wonderful woman, often initiated his visits to Čačak. It seems to me that he experienced his hometown and all of us with whom he grew up from a poetic perspective. As an eternal unfulfilled wish, from which he never gave up – says Dr. Savić, who adds that Bora and Čačak have one thing in common, “rebellious and unpredictable, until you find a thread for them”.
The famous musician and the pathologist from Cačan spent their childhood and early youth together, they went to high school together. It was those high school days and youthful antics that contributed to Bora leaving his hometown with his family. Dr. Savić was, of course, part of that story as well, reports Informer.
– We wanted to buy instruments, so we got them in an inappropriate way, I won’t talk about that now. At that time it was a scandal in a small town, we were both punished, we corrected the mistake, but the Borins decided to move out of town. Despite that, we remained inseparable all our lives – said Bora’s friend, whom many people from Čača know came to him when no one else did.
The rock star has been accompanied by a turbulent pace of life all these years. Wherever he went, he spread the word about Čačak, a city that never forgave him for his children’s mischief.
– The people of Čača usually do not forgive others what they have done to themselves a long time ago. My Bora loved this city more than anything, none of us understood why. Now my heart is in the right place when I know that he will be buried here, because I know that’s what he wanted. Once, over a good beer, we laughed together when we read the news that fans kept stealing earth from Jim Morrison’s grave in Paris and taking it away from the grave, so the local authorities had to cover the grave with concrete. I told him, the same will happen to you, and he laughed endlessly at that – says the interlocutor.
Every time Bora came to Čačak or Serbia, the friends used to meet, talk, and give each other brotherly hugs. However, they failed to realize their last arranged meeting.
– Bora recently sold an apartment in Belgrade and bought a house in Avala. We agreed to get together at his new home, but due to his illness, it didn’t happen. He bought a house where he stayed for only three days – says a friend of the rock legend, who is himself a musician, a rocker from Morava.
