The probability of a Mediterranean episode (an episode of very heavy rainfall over a short period) occurring in Languedoc at the end of the week is increasingly high.

If the scenarios are still imprecise, the presence of a depression descending from the United Kingdom on the Bay of Biscay should come into conflict with the warm and humid air of the Mediterranean. This would then create “a situation typical of our Mediterranean and/or Cévennes episodes”, says Météo Languedoc.

After rain on Wednesday, which should be of average intensity, the weekend is looking more complicated. According to these forecasts, still uncertain but increasingly credible, rain and storm episodes could follow one another, particularly in Languedoc (Hérault, Gard and Lozère), with heavy accumulations of rain in places.

The scenario remains to be refined, according to meteorologists. “Depending on where the cold drop of depression migrates, the consequences will be radically different,” specifies Météo Languedoc. “We could go from an ordinarily disturbed scenario to a violently stormy scenario. It is still very uncertain at the moment, but the potential is there.”
