Phew! It is indeed a great relief that we feel at the end of these 2h45 of well-supported melodrama produced by the actor Gilles Lellouche, his confirmation after a Great Bath already pretty sloppy. Except that this “phew” in the title was of course “crazy” in verlan to make it more populous. And that a crazy love story performed by Adèle Exarchopoulos and François Civil, two of the most talented actors of the moment, we were a priori up for it.

At the origin is an Irish novel, What Loves Johnser OK? by Neville Thompson (1997), a sort of tragedy from the Dublin suburbs on which Lellouche fell in love. Transposed to the north of with the help of Audrey Diwan (The Event, Emmanuelle), This gives rise to two teenagers, Clotaire, the son of a docker who has dropped out of school, and Jackie, the brave daughter of an installer-repairer, who fall in love. But they find themselves separated when Clotaire pays for another following a failed heist by an organized gang and receives ten years in prison. Upon his release, he tries to reconnect with Jackie, who has in the meantime married a rich man who loves her but whom, deep down, she despises…
