How Doctor Doom Becomes The MCU’s Big Bad

-

According to the latest Barside Buzz we may have an idea how Doctor Doom becomes the MCU’s big bad. This is information from Alex P at TCC. Whilst Alex didn’t directly say this, as you’ll see, he did hint that answers would be found in a certain comic book.

Check it out.

“If they go for what they want for Doom in this movie, they’d have a fantastic explanation that not only sets him up perfectly for when we see him in Doomsday but also places him in a position where he can easily become one of the most justifiable antagonists in Marvel, maybe even more so than Thanos.”

“If you really want to know why in Latveria the flowers die in the Summer, then you’d already know where to look.”

It seems as though this is a reference is from New Avengers #33, a comic which sees Doom attempting to save the Multiverse from The Beyonders. He spends years killing variants, yet, still fails in the end.

If we instead replace the Beyonders with Kang, and we find out that Doom has been destroying the Kangs to protect the Multiverse, then that’s a pretty compelling intro. Doom isn’t evil for evils sake, or he shouldn’t be. He has a somewhat altruistic view at times. However, like many villains Doom believes only he is capable of running things to get to a utopia.

This would at least give me confidence that Marvel unlike previous studios knows why Doom is one of the most compelling villains out there. Surely Doom is Marvel’s comics best villain, overall? He was also my favourite as a kid, second being Green Goblin.

Sounds fun, if true. Though, pinch of salt as always folks.
