Magnificent Audrey Werro! The Fribourg native took advantage of the 800m at the Bellinzona meeting to take the Swiss record in 1’57”76.

What mastery from the 20-year-old from Fribourg. Last in the 800m of the Weltklasse last Thursday in Zurich in 2’06”17, Audrey Werro perfectly knew how to put this poor performance aside.

While we were expecting the Frenchwoman Rénelle Lamote, it was the Fribourger who played the boss on this double lap of the track. In the opposite straight, the Fribourger took advantage of her big stride to take off and never let go of the lead again.

She crossed the line in 1’57”76 to take 0”21 off the Swiss record that had been held by Selina Büchel in 1’57”95 since 2015 in Paris. The three other Swiss women finished further back. Valentina Rosamilia took 5th place, Rachel Pellaud 6th and Lore Hoffmann 8th.

It should also be noted that this was the last meeting of the season for Mujinga Kambundji. The Bernese athlete showed herself generously in running the 100 m and the 200 m. The Swiss record holder first took second place in the 100 m in 11”14, before also ranking 2nd in the half-lap in 22”69.

Timothé Mumenthaler: Legs and Head

Between his title of European champion in the 200m and his participation in the Paris Olympic Games, the Geneva sprinter had an exceptional 2024 season. Meeting with the Onésien, who is not only a racing beast, but also a student at the EPFL and above all a young man of 21 years old.
