Marco Schwarz underwent successful surgery on his intervertebral disc on Friday.

According to Ski Austria, the 29-year-old ÖSV star was operated on by Michael Gabl at the Kettenbrücke private clinic in Innsbruck.

“After conservative treatment did not bring the desired improvement, an operation was unavoidable,” says Gabl.

Schwarz was previously diagnosed with a bulging disc in the lumbar spine >>>

“The operation went very well and was uncomplicated and we assume that the matter will heal without any consequences,” Gabl continues.

Schwarz: “Of course it’s hard”

Schwarz now has to take a break of around eight weeks before he can start training again.

“Unfortunately, the situation worsened so much at the beginning of the week that the operation was no longer an option. Of course, it’s hard to be set back a few weeks, but it was definitely the right decision. Now it’s all about getting fully fit again so that I can ski freely again,” says Schwarz.
