LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A woman was struck and killed while riding a scooter west of the Las Vegas Strip Thursday evening.

According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the crash occurred around 5:35 p.m. on South Valley View Boulevard and West Twain Avenue. Officers determined that a Toyota FJ was traveling west on Twain and turned right to head north, while a female pedestrian riding an electric scooter was traveling east and entered the path of the Toyota.

Arriving emergency medical services would confirm that the woman died at the scene.

Police say that Toyota’s driver remained at the scene and showed signs of impairment. The driver, identified as 54-year-old David Seltveit, was arrested on DUI-related charges.

“The pedestrian’s death marks the 99th traffic-related fatality in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s jurisdiction for the year 2024,” LVMPD noted in a release. “This collision remains under investigation by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Collision Investigation Section.”
