A group of young girls managed to escape from the bus. At first it was unclear whether there was actually just one perpetrator or several. Other drivers then looked after the injured and the completely shocked witnesses until rescue workers and police arrived.

Update, 10:14 p.m.: There is now increasing evidence that the arrested woman appeared extremely confused – apparently either heavily intoxicated or under the influence of drugs. She appears to have stabbed her victims indiscriminately with the knife.

Update, 9:23 p.m.: There are initial official details: At around 7:40 p.m., passengers on a shuttle bus to the Siegen city festival were attacked with a knife on the way from Neunkirchen to Siegen for the city festival. The perpetrator is apparently a 32-year-old woman who stabbed passengers on the bus. After the police arrived on the scene, the woman allowed herself to be arrested without resistance. A total of five people were injured, three of them seriously. The bus was occupied by around 40 people at the time of the attack.

There is concrete evidence that the perpetrator was under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. The police say they have no evidence of a terrorist background. “There is no danger to the public,” they say. Therefore, the city festival in Siegen will continue after consultation with the organizer.
