Several knife attacks have occurred in Germany within a few days. The most recent occurred late Friday evening: In North Rhine-Westphalia, a woman injured five people, three of them critically.

As the Dortmund police announced on the online service X, the crime occurred at around 7:40 p.m. on a bus in Siegen-Eiserfeld. According to a separate statement, the bus with around 40 other passengers was on its way to the city festival in Siegen when the woman stabbed the passengers. The alerted officers were able to arrest the 32-year-old attacker on the spot as a suspect.

As the police further announced, there is currently no further danger. The operation is ongoing. The crime scene area is currently cordoned off, they said. The police are securing leads and questioning witnesses.

The police also called on citizens not to spread false information on online networks or other channels, and in particular not to make any reference to a terrorist attack. The police currently have “no information” on this. The investigation is ongoing.
