New gold medals in cycling, crazy night for swimmers

After their 11 medals in para cycling on Wednesday, the French continued their harvest on Thursday with new medals including gold for Florian Jouanny and Mathieu Bosredon in the road race events in Clichy-sous-Bois (Seine-Saint-Denis). At the end of the day at the swimming pool of the Defense Arena, in Nanterre, Laurent Chardard won bronze in the 100 m freestyle. Ugo Didier and Hector Denayer finished second and third respectively in the 200 m medley.

On this eighth day of the Paralympic Games in Paris, the French medal haul continued on Thursday, September 5, in the cycling road race events in Clichy-sous-Bois (Seine-Saint-Denis). Like on Wednesday in the time trial, Mathieu Bosredon beat his compatriot Johan Quaile in the H3 category. Never before on a Paralympic podium, the former won two gold medals in two days.

Largely favourite after his victory the day before in the time trial, already ahead of Johan Quaile, Mathieu Bosredon immediately showed that he was in good shape by taking more than a minute’s lead at the end of the first of four laps over a chasing group, which included his compatriot.

  • Florian Jouanny retains his title

Already a bronze medalist in the time trial the day before, he got the better of the Spaniard Sergio Garrote Munoz and the Italian Luca Mazzone.

Then, Ugo Didier and Hector Denayer won new medals by finishing second and third respectively in the 200m medley in the SM9 category.
