“I don’t expect much, I don’t care”, Mbappé not worried about his return to the Parc des Princes

How will Parisian supporters welcome Kylian Mbappé? Having left Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer on July 1st, the Bondy native will make his big comeback at the Parc des Princes on Friday evening (8:45 p.m.), wearing the blue jersey. The French team will begin its Nations League tournament there against Italy, as part of the first day.

Could some Parisian supporters be tempted to whistle the former PSG player, still annoyed by his attitude or his recent unconvincing performances? Questioned about his return to Paris at a pre-match press conference, Kylian Mbappé preferred to remain sober. “I didn’t leave long ago, it’s recent. Coming to the French team is a pleasure. For the moment, I can’t feel this difference, it will come with time,” he first let slip.

“I don’t expect much”

The former Monaco player grew up in the capital club, where for seven seasons, the world champion reached the Champions League final and became PSG’s top scorer. So returning to this “stadium he knows best” is necessarily special.

“It’s special. I’ve spent many years here, I have a lot of memories, I only have great memories, with my family, my teammates, the club. Now, what kind of welcome? I don’t expect much, I don’t care. The important thing is to win,” he admitted.

Asked at the very end of the conference about his conflict with his former club, over unpaid wages and bonuses, the Madrid striker completely snubbed the question, preferring to “wish PSG the best”.
