No podium for Assoumani, swimmers perform well in series

The 2008 Paralympic long jump champion in Beijing, Arnaud Assoumani, failed to achieve a similar performance on Tuesday, finishing 5th in the competition, while the swimmers, who have good chances of medals, performed well in the series.

France has the opportunity to exceed the number of titles it won in Tokyo, eleven, which it equalled yesterday thanks to a successful day (five titles for eight medals).

.Athletics: Assoumani only 5th

The jumper Arnaud Assoumani, one of the most famous French athletes involved with his futuristic-looking black prosthesis on his left forearm, did not manage to bring home a 35th medal for the French delegation. He finished fifth with a jump of 6m77 in the T47 long jump category.

Cuban Robiel Yankiel Sol Cervantes was crowned Paralympic champion with a jump of 7.41m, ahead of Chinese Hao Wang (7.32m) and Russian Nikita Kotukov, competing under the neutral banner.

French flag bearer Nantenin Keita did not pass the heats of the 100 metres T13 for her entry into the Games, but she is especially aiming for a medal in the 400 metres, the heats of which will be contested on Thursday evening.

In the evening session, the main Frenchman in sight will be Charles-Antoine Kouakou, the first French athlete from adapted sport to become a Paralympic champion, in Tokyo.

. Swimmers ensure

The chances of medals are numerous at the Paris la Défense Arena and the French swimmers at the top of the bill lived up to expectations by qualifying without trembling for the finals.

Laurent Chardard, who will aim for gold in the final of the 50m butterfly S6, achieved the third time in the series and Ugo Didier, who was the first Frenchman to win the competition, the second time in the 100m breaststroke S9.

For his return to the pools after a day of rest, the eldest of the Portal brothers, Alex, three medals already in Paris, also passed the series of the 200m 4 medley SM13 with the fourth time. But the time was dominated by the Belarusian Ihar Boki, who will aim for a 21st title in the evening.

On the other hand, David Smétanine (49 years old) and Dimitri Granjux (18 years old) did not pass the series of the 200m freestyle S4.

. Versailles and the Grand Palais open their doors

For the first of three days of para-dressage competition in the gardens of the Palace of Versailles, the Frenchwoman Chiara Zenati and her horse Swing Royal did not manage to reach the podium, despite breaking a personal record in the event.

The wheelchair fencing competitions, which are taking place at the Grand Palais, will also begin on Tuesday. On the French side, Maxime Valet in sabre B and Brianna Vidé in sabre A are due to begin their competition early this afternoon.

In table tennis, medals could be assured, for example if Fabien Lamirault wins his quarter-final in class 2. Florian Merrien did not manage to do so in the morning in class 3.
