Reims launches its season against Rennes, Nice beats Angers ten against eleven

Beaten in Strasbourg a week ago (3-1), Rennes lost again this Sunday in Reims (2-1), who had not yet won this season. The promoted Auxerre team cracked at the end of the match in Le Havre (3-1), and Nice largely dominated Angers (1-4), despite being outnumbered in the last half hour.

Off-centre on the left, Alidu Seidu delivers an imprecise cross, directly into the arms of Reims goalkeeper Yehvann Diouf.

Four minutes into added time and Rennes are struggling to create any danger. Reims are heading for their first win of the season.

About twenty meters out, Baptiste Santamaria fires a shot with his right which seems to come down under the bar. Yehvann Diouf turns it out for a corner.

Shaken, the Aiglons immediately reassured themselves with a third goal scored by Evann Guessand, on the lookout after a shot from Jérémie Boga only stopped by Yahia Fofana.

Himad Abdelli does not tremble and converts his penalty against Marcin Bulka.

Launched deep, Bamba Dieng is fouled by Moïse Bombito in the Nice area. The latter receives a second yellow card, synonymous with exclusion. Penalty to come for Angers.

Launched behind the Rennes defense, Oumar Diakité is off-center on the left but turns toward the axis when entering the area. He shoots with his right and loses his one-on-one with Steve Mandanda.

This time it’s for real. Opéri breaks through on the left before crossing. Ndiaye gets ahead of Joly for a left-footed volley that allows HAC to take the lead.

Ndiaye wipes out Akpa on the edge of the Auxerre area and follows up with a cross shot from the right, the small opposite net. His goal is however disallowed for an offside by Nego at the start of the action.

On the right side, Ito fixes and shifts Buta who doubles behind him. The cross from Reims finds the well-placed header of Diakité. Mandanda deflects on the post and the ball goes in anyway.

From the right flank, Kalimuendo delivers a good low cross slightly deep. At the 2nd post, Gouiri takes his shot too far which goes just over the Reims goal.

The game resumes on the different lawns.

Rennes opened the scoring but were logically caught by a confident Reims team (1-1). Le Havre had the best chances and will approach the 2nd half calmly after the red card for Auxerre (1-1). Nice, for its part, controlled its subject in Angers (0-2).

Second warning for Ki-Jana Hoever, synonymous with exclusion for the Auxerre right-back on the Le Havre pitch.

Not attacked at the 18-meter line, Amine Gouiri opens his right foot for a strike. It is too weak to worry Yehvann Diouf who does not release the ball.

Junya Ito scored his 10th goal in 70 matches for Reims.

A cross from Le Havre right-back Loïc Nego is deflected into his own net by Auxerre midfielder Elisha Owusu. An own goal that delights HAC.

Right corner from Reims taken by Ito at the 2nd post. Agbadou takes it with a precise header which forces Mandanda to relax to deflect over the bar. Superb save from the 39-year-old Rennes goalkeeper.

Free kick for Auxerre at the edge of the area, off-center to the left. It is for the right foot of Gaëtan Perrin who places the ball in the opposite skylight, post in.

Nakamura slides a good ball to Fofana deep into the area on the left. The latter crosses low. Unmarked, Diakité does not have the right timing for his shot with his right which escapes the Rennes frame.

Another corner for Rennes, this time on the right. Blas’ cross is powerfully headed by Ostigard, who is unmarked and launched from six meters. The ball is deflected by Atangana and ends up in the back of the net.

From a right corner kicked by Jonathan Clauss, Nice midfielder Youssouf Ndayishimiye opened the scoring with a header. The Aiglons are leading at the Raymond Kopa stadium.

Rennes midfielder Munetsi breaks away down the middle and, having barely entered the area, wants to shoot at the end of the run. He is caught by the good return of Leo Ostigard with a sliding tackle.

The three meetings begin.

Promoted Angers are one of four L1 teams to have started their season with two defeats, and they have still not scored. Nice, coached by Franck Haise, are waiting for their first victory.

Le Havre, satisfied with having stayed up last season, hosts the promoted Auxerre. Both teams have 3 points after two matches. They have only one objective: not to finish in the bottom three of L1.

Beaten by Strasbourg last week (3-1), Rennes and its coach Julien Stephan are looking to bounce back. Reims, beaten by Lille (0-2) then held on to OM (2-2), has still not won this season.
