Kylian Mbappé scores his first home goal for Real Madrid… before scoring twice from the penalty spot

Kylian Mbappé scored his first league goal for Real Madrid shortly after the hour mark against Betis. The Frenchman scored twice by converting the penalty won by Vinicius.

French striker Kylian Mbappé scored his first goals in La Liga with Real Madrid on Sunday at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium against Real Betis, having not scored in four matches since his goal against Atalanta Bergamo in the European Super Cup.

After creating a number of chances in the first half, Real’s number 9 finally found the opening in the 67th minute, easily beating the Betis goalkeeper with his left foot after a backheel from Fede Valverde, before doubling the lead with a penalty won by Vinicius (75th).

After this second goal, the Madrid players were able to exchange with Carlo Ancelotti during a freshening break. The coach was notably seen exchanging with the Frenchman, before taking him off. Kylian Mbappé was replaced by Luka Modric (83rd) and cheered by the Santiago-Bernabeu crowd.

Before his goals, Real Madrid’s best situations were for Mbappé. But if he sometimes lacked precision, like his screwed shot on a cross from Vinicius (22nd), the French striker was also well muzzled by the Betis defenders, often in the path of his attempts (13th, 38th, 63rd).
