AS Pikine v Guédiawaye FC, “a suburban derby” between a recovering team and another whose head is underwater

This Sunday at the Alassane Djigo stadium (4:30 p.m.), AS Pikine hosts its eternal rival Guédiawaye FC for a late match counting for the eleventh day of Ligue 1.

Woe to the vanquished! The Alassane Djigo stadium will be the scene of the suburban derby between rival teams Pikine and Guédiawaye who are not in their best form. The host team is currently first non-relegation with eleven points on the clock while the crabs are only 11th with thirteen units.

Guédiawaye FC finds itself, Pikine totally lost!

The recent statement from Lamine Diagne (coach of AS Pikine) says a lot about the current situation of the greens and reds. The coach said after the defeat against the USO that “some of his players did not have the level to play at Pikine”. A bitter observation, certainly, but one that is confirmed in figures.

In its last seven matches, AS Pikine has only won one match (against Teungueth FC). A success which suggested a better future but unfortunately over this period, the team has a sad record of three draws and three defeats.

For Guédiawaye FC, which remains on two successes in a row in all competitions, the results are quite similar even if the crabs are in a better phase than the rival team. They have collected more points than the rival over the last seven matches with 2 wins, 2 defeats and 3 draws.

There is no need to remind you that this Saturday’s match is decisive for the rest of the season for both teams. Winning or losing a derby can be a turning point or a blow to morale.
