Damien Brunner puts away his skates with immediate effect – rts.ch

It’s over for Damien Brunner. The HC Bienne striker, who has only played 6 games this season, is putting an end to his rich career with immediate effect. “During his rehabilitation, he noticed a further regression in his physical condition, which no longer allows him to return to the level of elite sport,” explains the Zealand club.

Brunner began his impressive career in the relief team at HC Kloten, before making the jump to the top league via Zug. His path then took him to the NHL, where he played for the Detroit Red Wings and the New Jersey Devils. After his time in North America, he returned to Switzerland, where he played for Lugano and, from 2018, for Bienne.

Since his arrival at HC Bienne, Damien Brunner has been an important element of the Zealand club. In the 2022/23 season, he played a decisive role in leading HC Bienne to the title of Swiss vice-champion.
