24 Hours of Daytona – EL1: Acura double before qualifying

We are far from typical Florida weather this Thursday morning in Daytona. In these winter temperatures, the two Acura ARX-06s distinguished themselves by signing a double during the only Free Practice session held before qualifying, which will take place at 8:10 p.m. (French time).

Tom Blomqvist was the fastest at the wheel of the No. 60 Japanese prototype in 1:34.576. The Briton beat Nick Yelloly (n°93) by 0.176 seconds. Dries Vanthoor completed the podium of this running session 0.291 seconds behind the reference time with the #24 BMW M Hybrid V8.

Mikkel Jensen was the fastest in the LM P2 category at the wheel of the No. 11 Oreca 07 for the TDS Racing team in 1:37.986.

Frenchman Franck Perera set the GT reference time with Forte Racing’s Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2 with a lap of 1:47.321. The Italian manufacturer’s cars were at their advantage during this session as the #9 from Pfaff Motorsports was the fastest GTD Pro this morning thanks to Andrea Caldarelli in 1:47.539.
