NCAA football: logic is respected in the final

The Ohio State Buckeyes lived up to their status as favorites by convincingly winning the NCAA final against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Monday night in Atlanta.

The winners of the prestigious American college football championship triumphed by a score of 34 to 23, putting their hands on the crown for the first time since 2014.

The three touchdowns they scored in the second quarter gave them a good lead and the Fighting Irish were never able to recover despite a much better controlled end to the game.

Behind by 24 points, Notre Dame reduced the gap thanks to two majors each time converted for two points. Quarterback Riley Leonard, brilliant with 20 passes completed in 29 attempts and 240 yards of aerial gains, and his troops however ran out of time.

Ohio State’s ground game gave its rivals headaches. Quarterback Will Howard and running backs TreVeyon Henderson and Quinshon Judkins ran 34 times for a total of 215 yards.

Judkins was the offensive star of this meeting with three touchdowns, including two by rushing. He also brought his team to the goal post following a 70-yard run.
