A Natangué supporter named Moustapha Dieng, aged 32, and a tailor by profession, was brutally lynched to death. Indeed, violent pitched battles broke out yesterday and Monday between supporters of the sports and cultural association (ASC) called Farba and those of the team called Natangué in the streets of the commune of Yeumbeul Sud.
The arteries of the commune of Yeumbeul Sud were the scene of violence, yesterday Monday after the semi-finals of the phases of zone 1 of the department of Keur Massar played at the Alassane Djigo stadium in Pikine. A Natangué supporter by the name of Moustapha Dieng, aged 32, a tailor by profession, was brutally attacked in the street, then beaten to death by “die-hard fans of the opposing team”.
The two ASCs in question, neighbors in the same neighborhood, take advantage of the slightest opportunity to settle their old accounts in blood. Following the victory of Asc Farba (1) in front of its eternal rival Natangué (0), which was born from the flanks of Farba, the supporters of the two opposing camps engage in exchanges of sharp barbs and other throwing of projectiles . Enough for the officers from the local police station, supported by their colleagues from other police stations, to deploy throughout the route and try to control the excited crowds.
According to Les Echos, the organizers mark out two different routes for supporters of the respective teams and ask them to stay in line. While the two rival processions walk quietly through the streets and head towards their respective neighborhoods under heavy police surveillance, Moustapha Dieng, a supporter of Natangué, quietly breaks away from his ASC comrades.
Wearing the jersey of their Natangué team (defeated), he slips between people and goes straight in the English style towards the ASC Farba movement, a gesture which sounds like a casus belli in the eyes of Farba supporters. Furious, young people from the Farba team identified the intruder and shouted at the flagrant violation of their territory. Panicked, the intruder runs away to save his skin. He is quickly caught and dragged into the street by the supporters, who are furious.
-Alerted, the police arrived on the scene and tried to intervene. Faced with the fury of the immense crowd, they fired tear gas grenades all the time, just to disperse the demonstrators and above all to extricate the young Natangué supporter from the clutches of his attackers. They finally gain the upper hand over the young boys and restore public order, reports Les Echos.
Disasterly evacuated to the Thiaroye hospital, the poor Natangué supporter succumbed to his injuries. Informed of the young man’s death, the organizers of the zone 1 semi-final matches canceled the other matches at the Alassane Djigo stadium and went to the scene in order to learn the ins and outs of the deadly clashes.
Bruised, comrades of the deceased concoct a plan of revenge and head towards the alleged perpetrators of the lynching to death of their fellow man. An impressive police force took the lead and deployed to the four corners of the town to avoid a bloodbath.
An investigation was opened to ferret out and then arrest the perpetrators of the deadly popular vindictiveness against the Natangué supporter, reports Les Echos.
