Two Ferrari F40 crashes in a few weeks

Among the reasons that make the Ferrari F40 an absolute icon among the ultimate sports cars are its (admittedly subjective) beauty, the fact that it was the last car validated by Enzo Ferrari before his death, and also the fact whether it is a thoroughbred, a racing beast without concessions, without driving aids, of which you must know how to be master.

In just a few weeks, two drivers learned this the hard way, letting themselves be overwhelmed by the enthusiasm of the twin-turbo V8, with two crashed F40s to boot. And not just any ones. A few days ago, one was involved in an accident in England, probably by a mechanic who was carrying out a test. The damage was significant, as the car overturned and violently hit a lighting pole.

Lando Norris’ crashed F4

Following the news of this first damaged F40, an older event in turn found its way to the networks. This time, it was in Monaco that the car spun, and its owner is Lando Norris. And this, while the Formula 1 driver was celebrating the New Year in Dubai at the time of the events. Here, the damage is less serious, since the car “simply” hit a rail from behind after a spin.

As we see in the videos, the two accidents have one thing in common: the rear of the F40 suddenly stalling, and a “pilot” at the wheel who does not know how to react. In fact, we know that the engine of this legend is quite sharp. It is fed by two turbos, and when they start to blow, you have to be ready for the cavalry that tumbles. A lesson that will cost a lot of money.
