At the Maranello headquarters, the Scuderia staged the arrival of the seven-time world champion who will take his first steps in an Italian single-seater this week.
A legendary sporting venue, the center of Maranello, headquarters of Ferrari. An iconic car of the “Prancing Horse”, the F40 released at the end of the 80s. And the greatest driver in history still active, Lewis Hamilton, who abandoned his eccentric outfits for a sober and elegant suit. Three ingredients for a sensational shot that borders on perfection.
The Italian brand put online this Monday an image which opens the story of the seven-time world champion within the most prestigious team on the planet. A snapshot where nothing was left to chance. The choice of car first, an F40 steeped in history succeeding the 288 GTO in 1987. The costume, then, of rare elegance with a Lewis Hamilton who agreed to drop his label of fashion victim, and the building at the rear, red shutters and yellow flag bursting with the colors of the driver’s favorite supercar. All in rainy weather and drizzle, typically British.
-“Benvenuto Lewis” announces the official account of Scuderia Ferrari while “King Lewis” signs the photo with a sober but effective “A new era”. Two hours after its publication at midday, the image had already been viewed more than eight million times on the social network X.
Officially a driver of the transalpine brand since January 1, the Briton arrived this Monday morning early in Maranello, welcomed by the team boss, Fred Vasseur and the CEO of Ferrari, Bendetto Vigna. Hamilton carried out a photo session before touring the facilities, including the office of Enzo Ferrari, the manufacturer’s founder. The native of Stevenage was also able to meet some of the teams, greet the employees and have a first overview of the different departments.
On track Wednesday?
A tour from the owner before the serious things begin. Hamilton should take advantage of his stay in Italy to do a simulator session and, of course, get into a car to do a few laps. A session more symbolic than anything else since he should slip into a car dating from 2022 on Wednesday. Private tests are also scheduled in Barcelona before the end of the month before getting to the heart of the matter with official pre-2025 season tests. These will take place in Bahrain on February 26, 27 and 28.
