Former lawyer, close to Olivier Véran, projects for access to care… Here are five things to know about the new MP for Isère, elected under the colors of Ensemble pour la République.

Substitute for Olivier Véran during the Covid period

If Camille Galliard-Minier wins her first mandate as a member of parliament, it is not the first time that she will sit in the National Assembly. Former substitute for Olivier Véran, she wasMP for the first constituency of Isère between 2020 and 2022 when he was Minister of Health during the Covid-19 crisis.

In Parliament, she was notably involved in a 2021 law aimed at protecting minors from crime, sexual offenses and incest as well as in a “flash mission” on the issue of low-emission zones (ZFE). His mandate ended on June 21, 2022 with the end of the legislature.

A foundation “at the service of the territory”

After serving in the National Assembly, Camille Galliard-Minier devoted herself to the creation of the Sésame foundation. This structure connects associations seeking financial or material support with companies in Grésivaudan, the metropolis and the Pays Voironnais.

After these two years as an MP, I wanted to put myself at the service of this territory. I had made this diagnosis: we had companies that wanted to get involved, associations that had needs and sometimes, this connection that was not happening.explained Ms. Galliard-Minier to us on the France 3 Alpes set on January 7. I was convinced that I could bring this network and create these bridges between these two worlds.”

Politics as a family heritage

Born on May 26, 1975 in La Tronche (Isère), Camille Galliard-Minier is the granddaughter of Louis Galliard, former mayor of this town between 1971 and 1985. Her mother is still deputy mayor in this town of 6,500 inhabitants.

“I know what it is to put oneself at the service of a territoryshe argues, and it is precisely so that everyone finds their place, especially the most fragile and vulnerable among us.”

Lawyer in the case of the “black widow of Isère”

A lawyer by training, she wrote a thesis on adoption before joining the Grenoble bar where she practiced for 12 years in family law and criminal law. Camille Galliard-Minier notably participated in the trial of Manuela Gonzalez, nicknamed the “black widow of Isère”, as lawyer for the civil parties.

“Cconfronted with the prison environment” during this trial, the new deputy wishes “bring (one's) experience in order to make improvements and have a prison that is up to the standards of the democracy of this country”she declared to our colleagues at L'Essor Isère. Camille Galliard-Minier was omitted from the bar at her request when she became a parliamentary collaborator in 2017.

Access to care as a battleground

After moving away from the political sphere for almost two years, Camille Galliard-Minier launched into the campaign for the legislative by-election at the end of 2024 after the resignation of Insoumis deputy Hugo Prevost, in a confused political context.

“It’s the complicated political context that made me want to become a deputy for this constituency again. It’s when it’s difficult that you have to go.”she said to France 3 Alpes, wishing in particular to create “bridges from left-wing movements to right-wing movements so that we can work together”.

Among his campaign promises: ensure, for all, better access to care” while going “further away” than the Ségur de la santé. “We must find solutions both in terms of means but also in terms of organization” by strengthening the “collaboration with community medicine”by increasing the number of doctors and focusing on prevention: “If we eat better, if we do more physical activity, if we screen better, if we do more vaccinations, we will have fewer sick people.”

The new MP presents herself as a “social democrat”. His replacement is the disabled fencer Alim Latrèche, crowned team epee champion at the 2004 Summer Paralympics has Athens.
