A gray area in the Bruges picture? “Some are not yet capable of lasting 90 minutes at 100%” – Tout le football

The victory is beautiful, the Club delighted its supporters with several goals. But the Blauw & Zwart coach admits to having briefly feared the disaster scenario when the visitors came up from behind.

Nicky Hayen saw his men win 4-2 against the bottom side, at the end of a spectacular match rich in goals. But during the match at Beerschot, the promoted team managed to come back to 2-2, a scenario that the Bruges mentor admitted to fearing.

“After half-time, we noticed that Beerschot had entered the match better and that the appearance of the match had changed, as in the previous match. In those moments, it became clear that some players who received their luck today are not yet able to last 90 minutes at 100%,” Hayen explained in Het Laatste Nieuws.

He was nevertheless satisfied with the commitment of his men: “In addition to the greater pressure from them, we also made bad choices. We left the locker room with a lack of rigor and therefore we did not succeed in playing our game after the break,” concluded Hayen.

They had nothing left to lose

After the meeting, Simon Mignolet was very satisfied with the Club’s performance: “I think we had a good match. In the second half, Beerschot went all out and we were put under pressure. Fortunately, the 3 -0 came at the right time,” the goalkeeper told Sporza.

“They scored two goals in the same way. We still finished well, but that shouldn’t happen. That’s mainly because Beerschot had nothing left to lose. All that remained was to defend,” he concludes.
