Australian Open – Sander Gillé eliminated in the doubles round of 16

Associated with his new partner the Pole Jan Zielinski (ATP D-25), with whom he is ranked 13th seed, Sander Gillé, 37th in the world in doubles, lost to the 4th seed of the tournament.

The Germans Kevin Krawietz (ATP D-9) and Tim Puetz (ATP D-10), finalists at the US Open and winners of the Masters in 2024, won in three sets: 6-7 (4/7), 6 -4, 6-4. The meeting lasted 2 hours and 22 minutes.

Sander Gillé, 34, however, had his best career run at Melbourne Park. He had never gone beyond the second round (in 2020) when he was associated with Joran Vliegen (ATP D-34). The Belgian Davis Cup pair had then been eliminated each time in the first round over the last four years.
