For a first collaboration, Yasser Shahin and Team WRT did not miss their joint debut with victory at the end of the 6 Hours of Abu Dhabi, second round of the 2025 24H Series.
Aligned in the No. 32 BMW M4 GT3 EVO with Charles Weerts and Timur Boguslavskiy, for what looked very much like a rehearsal before the 2025 WEC, where Shahin will compete with Bogulsavskiy and Augusto Farfus, the Australian offers himself a prestigious success which was confirmed in the final minutes of the event.
After the final pit stops, and after avoiding stops under Code 60, Charles Weerts emerged in the lead with an 8″ margin over Gabriele Piana (Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO n°16 – Winward Racing) and 24″ over Joel Sturm (Porsche 911 GT3 R n°80 – Herberth Motorsport).
Long (and in a somewhat unsporting manner) hampered by Vasily Vladikin (Audi R8 LMS GT3 n°69 – Continental Racing by Simpson Motorsport), Weerts saw his lead diminish.
Once the Audi was erased, the gap remained in favor of the #32 M4, which then benefited from a final Code 60 to validate its victory. BMW and Team WRT double the stakes after victory at the 24 Hours of Dubai.
Gabriele Piana, Sergei Borisov, Sergey Stolyarov and Victor Shaytar (Mercedes n°16 – Winward Racing) finished 2nd at 3″ and pocketed the victory in Pro-Am. Thomas Ikin, Michael Porter and Andrew Gilbert (McLaren 720S GT3 EVO n°33 – Optimum Motorsport) complete the podium.
Hofor Racing, with Alexander Prinz, Chantal Prinz, Timo Rumpfkeil and Michael Kroll (Mercedes n°11) finished 5th and dominated the Am class.
