“when we want to eat guys…”, Christophe Urios is jubilant after the victory over Bristol

Clermont qualified for the round of 16 of the Champions Cup after a crazy match against Bristol. The Auvergnats won thanks to a try from Ceyte arriving around the 86th minute of play. A try which made the Marcel Michelin stadium explode with happiness, but which also filled the coach of this Clermont team, Christophe Urios, with happiness. .

The ASM coach, at a press conference, admitted that everything was not perfect and that his players did not necessarily make their task easier. But he had an intuition, as the meeting progressed, that there was the possibility of doing something. So obviously, he gives himself the right to gloat a little. And even joke. But we feel pride and, perhaps, the feeling that this match can be a trigger for the future.

Even if we gave them 3 tries and we made a bit of a mess on our own, we had a good match, a very good match. The end of the match? Comfortable, I knew we were going to win (smile). I'm being smart now but it's something that I feel, we lose the ball twice, we win it back twice, so you tell yourself that things are going to change for us. I feel like a team was born tonight. When we don't lose track, when we stay together, when we want to eat guys, we are strong.

And this last action is part of this match where we didn't lose the thread. It shows mastery, quality, desire (…) We showed ambition. We had high standards for what we want to do. That's good, it could be a defining match for our season.

Jauneau's pride

Christophe Urios believed in this victory, but he was not the only one. Baptiste Jauneau, even if he was very nervous at the end of the match, knew that there was a card to play for Clermont. This card was played very well in the end and therefore among the scrum half, pride is there.

I believed in it because they also had to win to qualify and therefore play all the balls. So we knew we would have a chance. And the guys on the ground didn't give up. This shows that we are a real team! (…) I’m proud to be part of this team and to play with the guys. It's just incredible.
