Traveling to Décines-Charpieu, Zakaria Aboukhlal’s Toulouse brought home a valuable draw against Olympique Lyonnais. The Moroccan international who was denied a goal said he was proud of his team’s performance.
This well-contested match between Toulouse and their hosts Lyonnais was marked by the cancellation of a goal from Zakaria Aboukhlal. The latter had found the net with a bouncing shot, but the goal was refused for offside on his Norwegian teammate King (13th) after recourse to VAR.
Despite his disallowed goal, Zakaria Aboukhlal expressed no regrets and seemed rather satisfied:
“It was a difficult match, Lyon were very good. We defended a lot but we defended as a team. I am proud of my team. Matches like this are important. Going 0-0 against Lyon is good. We will analyze the bad things we did and see how to improve them and continue to progress.”
